I bought this book after doing some research on the harrassment of immigrants to America following the events of September 11th. I bought this book with a few things in mind. The most important probably being that I wanted to read something contreversial that may, in some way, enlighten me to a different point of view. This book did just that. It was executed tastefully and written well.
From the start The Immigration Lawyer: Asylum made an impression, weaving a complicated tale of a fight for a better future and a fight for equality. The novel manages to hook you with a very present political and social hotbed issue of immigration, presenting a truly fascinating glimpse into immigration law and what many immigration lawyers have to go up against every day to help their clients get the chance at a better life.
I was recommended "The Immigration Lawyer: Asylum (Volume 1)" by a friend and I have to say that I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Shah Peerally provides a uniquely compelling look into the immigration progress and the atmosphere for immigrants, drawing the reader in and helping them to see through different eyes of the struggles that immigrants face.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add ´within the limits of the law´ because law is often but the tyrant´s will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.
Sarah is a successful corporate lawyer who has taken a special interest in the immigration case of Ahmad, who's seeking asylum in the United States. Red flags fly fast and furious as Ahmad's case is handled by the US Immigration in a very non-routine manner. Ahmad came to the States after being imprisoned and tortured from Iraq and Sarah is determined to get him the asylum he seeks. Representing Ahmad turns into a nightmare when she's targeted and attempts are made on her life. To make matters worse, some people are questioning her allegiance to America, but Sarah cannot allow Ahmad to be forced back to Iraq. She and the US Asylum laws are all that stand between Ahmad and certain death if he's returned to his country. Will her faith in truth and the American legal system be rewarded or will she learn the deep, dirty side of the system that she's heard so much about but never experienced?
Shah's new book, "The Immigration Lawyer Asylum," seems to have all the ingredients to keep the reader captivated including how a US immigration court functions. Being an attorney author, he wants to use his book to assist the average US citizen and immigrants to understand the realities of being a new immigrant. In this book, he covers immigration law, hate crimes and other sensitive issues and their implication on society.
Reading this book will fascinate you, especially because it has realistic law notions embedded into a fiction novel. "The Immigration Lawyer Asylum" was written from the attorney author’s perspective, and all the US immigration issues found between the lines have been experienced by immigration lawyer Shah Peerally.
